press releases ::
Transport Leaders Gather in Bangkok to Prepare for the Upturn

BANGKOK, OCTOBER 30 - More than 100 logistics and transport leaders from nearly 50 countries will come together in Bangkok for the BDP Global Network Forum – where the focus will be on getting ready for the economic recovery.

Held between 5 and 7 November at the Banyan Tree Hotel Bangkok, the Forum will see the executives of some of the world’s leading mid-size transport and logistics companies discussing the state of regional and world trade.

The decision to hold the conference in Bangkok is a vote of confidence in Thailand’s economy and tourism industry, and underlines the importance of South East Asia to global trade growth.

The conference is hosted by BDP International – one of the world’s largest privately owned logistics firms with an annual turnover of US$1.6 billion.

Mr Richard Bolte, President & Chief Executive Officer of BDP International said: “The transport and logistics industry is on the front line of world trade, so we have a clear insight into the state of the world economy.  While recovery will eventually come, it is likely that Asia will lead the world back into a state of economic growth.”

“Companies from different countries needed to work together if they are to continue to survive the downturn and to benefit from the expected upswing.  The top executives of many of the world’s leading transport and logistics companies have come to Bangkok to find ways to help each other prepare for the recovery.”

“This conference is being held in Bangkok – in the heart of South East Asia – in recognition of the important role this region will play in helping the world on the path to economic recovery,” Mr Bolte said.

The Bangkok Conference marks the first meeting of the members of the BDP Global Network – an alliance of transport and logistics companies from around the world committed to working together to grow their businesses.  This is the first meeting of the partners of the BDP Global Network since its establishment in 2008.
