press releases ::
BDP forms humanitarian aid unit

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., April 25, 2006 - BDP International (BDP), a U.S.-based global logistics and transportation management company, has established a Humanitarian Aid Department within its Global Project Logistics business unit. Based in the company's New York offices, the new department will interface with BDP global operations to focus on charitable organizations, coordinating humanitarian-aid-related shipments, including air, ocean, truck, import, export and cross-trade.

"Given the recent increase in natural and other disasters throughout the world, we saw a compelling need to expedite humanitarian aid shipments to stricken areas," said Richard J. Bolte, Jr., president of BDP. "From a business perspective, we can do well by doing good in providing this vital service for those who need it most."

Staffing the new department will be Mitchell Judd, director of humanitarian aid, and Sarah Reynolds, project manager. Judd brings to the position nearly 30 years of experience in the transportation industry, including Kuehne & Nagel, UTI and SCAC Transport, now SDV. Working with the United Nations and various other non-governmental (NGO) and church organizations, he specialized in logistics for humanitarian relief cargo to Africa and other developing areas.

With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Reynolds was also formerly affiliated with Kuehne and Nagel, UTI and SDV/SCAC where she managed the contracting team for the United Nations and related NGOs. In addition, she has handled all types of project freight worldwide, as well as commercial cargo, AOG traffic, dangerous goods shipments, export licensing and carrier negotiations.
