BDP acquires interest in Mexican logistics firm
PHILADELPHIA, MEXICO CITY, March 1, 2007 -- BDP International (BDP), a U.S. based global logistics and transportation company, has acquired a major interest in JB Cargo Group S.A. de C.V.
JB Cargo Group, also an international logistics service provider, will operate as a joint venture, retaining its present management team and conducting business as BDP International Mexico. The two companies will share resources, notably logistics information technology tools and a global network of subsidiaries, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships in 113 countries.
"Beyond the competitive necessity of having a more substantive presence in the growing Mexican market, BDP's investment in JB Cargo Group reflects a good fit between two family-owned companies that share similar values," said BDP Vice President - Pan Americas H. Timothy Bolte. "Indeed both BDP and JB Cargo Group are committed to intensive customer care, operational excellence, and respect for one another's traditions and cultures."
Established in 1992, JB Cargo Group provides a range of transportation/logistics services, including air, sea and inland transport between Mexico and major import and export markets around the world. Based in Mexico City, the company also has operations in Guadalajara, Monterrey, Queretaro and Puebla.
"JB Cargo Group was doing quite nicely as a stand-alone regional enterprise," explains JB Cargo Group Executive Director Mauricio Boy. "But we recognized the leverage of a respected brand in the industry could help us meet the challenges of the global economy and become even more effective for our customers. We are proud to be a part of the BDP family."
In addition to Mexico, BDP has offices and affiliates in 28 other Latin American and Caribbean countries, providing freight forwarding; warehousing and distribution; air, ground and sea transport; customs brokerage and country-specific import documentation; assembly and packaging; logistics process analysis and administration; on-line information technology tools and systems applications; project logistics; and global supply chain management.
