BDP Executive Takes Senior Post on
Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia

PHILADELPHIA and KUALA LUMPUR, July 15, 2009 – One of BDP International’s (BDP) executives has been appointed the honorary secretary for the executive committee of the Chemical Industries Council of Malaysia (CICM).

Hoo Ching Dew, BDP’s regional director of business development solutions for the Asia-Pacific Region, will serve on the committee for the 2009 to 2011 term. In addition to his senior role on the executive committee, Hoo will continue his role as chairman of the working group on safe transportation of chemicals, a position he has held since 2005.

BDP is one of the world’s leading privately owned logistics companies, and is recognized within the industry as an expert in management, transport and safe storage of chemicals.

The CICM is the umbrella body representing various sub-sector chemical groups. The different sectors of the chemical industry represented by the CICM include oleo chemicals, paints, cosmetics and toiletries, fertilizers, petrochemicals, agricultural chemicals, industrial gases and pharmaceuticals.

Hoo said he is honored to be chosen as secretary of the executive committee, and looked forward to continuing the CICM’s work of promoting the interests of the chemical industry in Malaysia.
"Serving seven of the world’s top ten chemical producers, BDP has unparalleled experience in handling and moving chemicals," said Hoo. "The chemical sector is a core aspect of our business and we have led in the development and practical application of specialized logistics practices and handling that allow me to make a real contribution to the CICM. BDP strongly supports the CICM’s objectives and activities, which include government liaison, manpower training and safety, trade and business development as well as providing a forum for CICM members to have their say on issues that affect them," he added.

BDP has also been an American Chemical Council (ACC) Responsible Care® partner since 2001, and in 2007 became the first global logistics provider to complete its Responsible Care®
management system audit in concert with Europe’s Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI). It was the first time the ACC, its European counterpart and a logistics provider collaborated to document, develop and standardize such a policy in a truly cross-continental effort.
